AC GENERATOR

Principle:-A.C. generators or alternators (as they are usually called) operate on the same fundamental principles of electromagnetic induction as D.C. generators.







where Eemf  is the induced EMF (electro motive force) which depends on the number of turns in the armature coil (N) . Rate of change of magnetic flux . Here -ve sign shows that induced EMF always oppose its cause ( Lenz's Law) here cause is the changing area because of rotation ( that rotation provided by any means like turbine(hydro electricity)). As magnetic poles are static means field is constant so only changing area leads to change in flux.
